The series, Seeing Jesus in 20/20, zeroes in on the greatest need that every believer has: seeing Jesus move and work in our hearts and our lives. Tumultuous events are always brewing in the world around us, but we can be certain that focusing the eyes of our hearts on the Lord will bring us perfect peace and confidence (Isaiah 26:3).
The sermon series beginning 1/5 @ 10:30 AM starts with the story of a man who was blind, Bartimaeus. Blind Bartimaeus had a desperate need. Many around him tried to ignore him, some even tried to hush him, but nothing could silence his need for the Lord. Bartimaeus shouted louder and louder to overcome the noise of the crowd, and grasp the attention of the Lord who was passing by. Blind Bartimaeus was forever changed as a result of this encounter; not only was he given sight, he began to follow Christ.
Most of us can relate to Bartimaeus; we know what it feels like to have a great need, and we know what it’s like to feel ignored or rejected. We are all like Bartimaeus, because we are all in a desperate situation without Christ occupying the prominent spot in our lives. May we make it a matter of prayer and dedication to see more of Christ in our lives in 2020.
