Our Mission
Loving God. Loving People. Serving them Both.
Family
We want you and your family to feel at home. Whether you’re single, married, with kids, or without; we have something for everyone! Our church is a place where kids, teens and adults can connect with God, learn to love like Jesus, and make a difference in the world.
Community
Our church is comprised of people in this very community. Our kids go to the same schools. Our families play in the same parks. We understand many of the challenges you face because we are right there with you. The culture at Suncoast is one of friends working together as a team to serve through the varied talents that God has given each individual.
Outreach
We understand that the world could be a better place. Trouble and heartache has plagued mankind for generations. But we believe we can help and make a difference. Why? Because God has made such a difference in our lives through the power of the Gospel, we can’t help but share it with other people.
Core Values
What are we all about? What is our mission? How do we feel that our faith should "play out" in our lives?
The vision of Suncoast Baptist Church is best expressed in these 5 simple Core Values:
We Love
At the very core of our church must be a love for the Lord and for others. We will passionately worship God together, seek unity and fellowship within the church, and engage the community around us by displaying our love for God and for Them (Deut. 6:4-6, Matthew 12:28-34, I John 4).
We Grow
We will grow in Spiritual Maturity and Faith as the Lord works in us, and we will grow Numerically as the Lord gives the increase (Psalm 1, Phil. 1:6, 3:8-14, II Peter 3:18).
We Serve
Overflowing from our love for God and others, we will be intentional in seeking for ways to serve our Savior and others. We will serve God in ways that He has equipped us, and will be sincere to meet people’s needs in ways that God allows us (John 13, Heb. 13:1, Rom. 12:10, Phil 2:5-11,).
We Give
Sacrificial giving from all of our resources is necessary; this includes our Time,Talents, and Treasure
(Malachi 3:8, 2 Cor. 8:1-5).
We Reach
There are many around us who are perishing,
we are bothered by this, and we will mobilize and do something about it.
We consider this to be at the very core of who we are and why we exist
(Eph. 4:5-6, Acts 1:8, Matthew 28:19-20).
Our Beliefs
God
We believe that there is one, and only one, living and true God and infinite, intelligent Spirit, the Maker and Supreme Ruler of Heaven and Earth (Genesis 1:1; Psalm 90); that in the unity of the Godhead, there are three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
The Church
We believe that a New Testament church is a congregation of baptized believers associated by a covenant of faith and fellowship of the Gospel observing the ordinances of Christ, governed by His laws, and exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word; that its officers of ordination are pastors or elders and deacons, whose qualifications, claims, and duties are clearly defined in the Scriptures (I Tim 3:1-13; Titus 1:6-9); we believe the true mission of the church is found in the "Great Commission" which instructs us first, to make individual disciples (Matt 28:19,20); second, to baptize the converts; and third, to teach and instruct as He commanded.
Jesus
We believe that Jesus Christ, eternal with the Father, was begotten of the Holy Ghost; that He was born of Mary, a virgin, as no other person was ever born of woman, and that He is both the Son of God and God the Son (I John 1:1,2). He is both true man, one person with two natures, tempted in all points like as we are, yet without sin (Isaiah 7:14; Hebrews 4:14-17).
The Bible
We believe that the Holy Bible was written by men and supernaturally inspired; that it is truth without any error; and therefore is and shall remain the only complete and final revelation of the will of God to man; the true center of Christian union and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions should be tried (II Tim 3:16; I Peter 1:21).
Baptism
We believe that baptism is the immersion in water of a born-again believer to show forth in a solemn and beautiful emblem our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior, as it pictures our death to sin and resurrection to a new life (Matt 28:19,20).
The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person; eternal and equal with God the Father and God the Son (I John 5:7); that He was active in the creation (Genesis 1:2); that in the unbelieving world He restrains the evil one until God's purpose is fulfilled; that He convicts of sin, of judgment and of righteousness; that He bears witness of the truth of the Gospel in preaching and testimony; that He is the agent in the new birth; that He seals, endues, guides, teaches, bears witness with, sanctifies, and helps the believer (John 14:7; Romans 8:14-27).
Salvation
We believe that man was created in innocence under the law of his Maker, but by voluntary transgression, he fell from his sinless state (Genesis 3), in consequence of which, all mankind are now sinners and therefore under just condemnation and are guilty before God (Romans 5:12; Psalm 51:5; Romans 3). We believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly of grace through the Son of God who by the appointment of the Father freely took upon Him our nature, yet without sin and by His death made a full atonement for our sins; We believe that in order to be saved, sinners must be born again; that the new birth is the new creation in Jesus Christ (John 3:3,5); that in the new birth the one dead in trespasses and in sins is made a partaker of the divine nature and receives eternal life, the free gift of God (Ephesians 2:8,9).
